Greener Canalside Volunteering

In 2024, Urbanwise.London started an exciting new volunteer programme called Greener Canalside. We welcome individuals (many of whom are local residents), community groups and corporate groups to join us in cleaning and greening along the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal, and next to our office at Canalside Activity Centre (W10 5AY). Our work collaborating with charities and community organisations along this part of the canal will help us to make a bigger impact.

Volunteer activities include planting, weeding, litter picking on foot and/or by boat. and environmental awareness workshops. After each session we enjoy a (free!) cold/hot drink and biscuits together in our kitchen at Canalside Activity Centre.

We want to thank all of the volunteers and community organisations who have joined us so far, some of whom come week in and week out! Thank you all for your amazing energy and company. It’s been great making new friends!

Want to get involved?

Volunteering for the Greener Canalside project is a great way to get involved in your local area, meet new people and help local nature. No previous experience is required. Volunteering address: Canalside Activity Centre, Canal Close, Ladbroke Grove, W10 5AY.

 

For individuals: Weekly Wednesday sessions, between 2-4pm.

For community groups: We can discuss your community group joining one of our weekly Wednesday sessions, 2-4pm, or we may be able to deliver a session for just your group on a Tuesday morning, 10am-12pm.

For corporate groups: We are interested to discuss your business/team volunteering for our Greener Canalside Project. We can talk about delivering this on a day outside of our regular Wednesday sessions.
