Taking the Primary Curriculum Outdoors at Holland Park
We spent a fantastic April day at Holland Park Ecology Centre delivering a CPD session with 8 teachers from schools in the Tri-borough area who want to make the most of their school’s outdoor environment for teaching science and geography. Trevor Bowyer from Holland Park’s Ecology team showed us the secrets of the wildlife pond and how we can support a lively science learning activity like pond dipping with a memorable craft by making a dragonfly form clay and horse chestnut leaves. We played some learning games, identified a selection of woodland minibeasts and embarked on an Urban Studies centre orienteering trail around the lovely Holland park, finding out lots of interesting geographical and historical information.
Thanks you to RB Kensington and Chelsea’s Ecology Service for hosting this event and delivering it in partnership with USC
